Meet Karen! Karen Lauer is the Child Care Consultant with Child Care Resource and Referral for Mahaska and Wapello Counties. She has worked in early childhood in multiple capacities for the last 13 years.

“Resilience means being able to bounce back from difficult situations. To me, a resilient community means that the people within the community know what is available to assist them with bouncing back from adversity. It takes teamwork from community members, families, businesses, local government, schools and everyone working together to build a resilient community.”

Karen is excited to be a part of the Resilient Communities Steering Committee because she is passionate about learning what resources are available and being able to share them with families in the community. “Building a resilient community will have an amazing and lasting impact on every child in the community.”
